It seems like the news these days couldn’t get much worse, but last week I saw a headline about a leak at a nuclear power plant in Minnesota that had a leak which wasn’t reported for several days.
So far I have not seen much media coverage of the event. Which could either be terrifying, or indicative that perhaps the issue is not that severe. The below article reports: “The leak was contained to the plant site in Monticello and it poses no health or safety risks to the community or nearby environment” … However, that update is “according to Xcel Energy, a Minneapolis-based utility company.” In other words, the company accountable is saying that all is well – sounds a lot like the initial reports about the Norfolk Southern derailment in Ohio.
